We made it!

Since we moved to Cedar City we have tried three times to snow shoe to the Cedar Break Yurt. The previous 2 times we failed but this weekend we finally made it! What a wonderful experience. mostly because the last two times failed so badly that I don't think any of us thought we would actually make it this time either. But the stars were aligned and we did it!

The hike itself is really easy and not strenuous. I found the best what to snow shoe is bring the sled. They walk part of the way and ride most of the way, but hey I got to do what I wanted and they did what they wanted. And we made it! Perfect conditions and perfect company, no better way to spend the Saturday.

I know, I know, I know...

So I have this thought. I wonder sometimes what the point of having this blog when I do nothing with it. LOL of course that is my own fault. Well I decided that this year will be different. I hope to keep it up better. I won't promise pictures all the time but maybe I can at least jot down a thought or two. So here it goes.
This week was Christmas! What a wonderful time of year. The lights, the food, family and of course the reason why we celebrate, Christ. It was extra special to me. I got to spend it in my new house and have my family come. It was wonderful for the girls to spend a Christmas at home. And it meant a lot to me to be able to do it there. How blessed we are. I can't even tell you how much I have seen my Saviors hand in all that my life holds. Thanks to wonderful friends and family.
So the girls, I think had a great Christmas. Tess my little character got a new knitted hat; its black, and some big earphones that cover her entire ears, then she put on her sun glasses.. and what do I have but a little punk/rapper! LOL unfortunately it gave me flashes into the future of who she might be AHHHH!!!... Cross my fingers I can raise her right!
Alyssa got a new camera and the two of them together were hilarious! Alyssa snapping poses of my little rapper girl! (pics, hopefully to follow)! While my nephew was in the background jamming out on his new paper guitar.
My family has a few really fun traditions on Christmas, they are some what typical, however whenever the Allan Family does them, there is nothing traditional about them at all... My dad always gets up CChristmas morning after the presents are open and makes us breakfast, but its not just any breakfast, its always the same old thing sausage and blueberry muffins. That's it. Not only that I am not sure anyone really likes it! hahaha, but its what we do. I, for one, growing up hated sausage, and blueberry muffins, (I have grown to like it now) and dreaded the thought of having it on Christmas, but that's what we do and there is not changing it! Kinda fun now to think about it, and yes we still do it and the kids still complain!
Also on Christmas morning before the presents are opened we try to read the story of Christ's birth as told in Luke. This to doesn't always turn out just the way we want it to. All good intentions aside, it usually is filled with wining and complaining and wiggly body's who just want it to be over so they can open their presents. I sure you can see how quickly this nice moment can turn into chaos and crabby parents trying to get their kids to at least feel the spirit if only for a min. LOL I love Christmas.
So one of my favorite traditions I have started with my girls, is the gift of my Testimony. I have started buying them a little something that can remind them of Christ, a piece of a nativity, or figurine or a picture and then I write my testimony in the written word to express my feelings of gratitude and love for my Heavenly Father and the Savior Jesus Christ. I do this for two reasons one to help them remember what Christmas is suppose to be about, but also to share my testimony with them, I have a hard time getting up in front of church and bearing my testimony and although I bear it some times at home its not as often as I should. Plus this way they will have a hard copy of it so the can read it anytime they want to.
Well I hope wish all my friends and family a very Happy Holidays! and a great New Year! Loves to everyone!

Happy New Year!
Life is good! We danced in the New Year at Bryce Canyon this year. It was really a great experience. We cross country skied, swam in the pool, hiked and danced at the family friendly party they had! We also think everyone should join us next year for the experience!

HELP! Ok so we took pictures of the girls today for our Christmas and Oh my goodness!Seriously she's not even 10 yet! Did I blink? Cause for some reason she looks really old to me. Please somebody get me a gun! Cause I think I am going to have a fight on my hands keeping the boys away! Not only that, she is as sweet as she is beautiful! Again...... HELP!

No seriously though I want to tell everyone how much I love these two girls! I feel very blessed to be their mom and I am so proud of them. I can't believe my Heavenly Father found me fit enough to take care of these amazing spirits and I only pray that I can continue to live up to that calling! And thanks to all of you
who help us too! We couldn't do it with out you.

Friends

Life is better when you have a friend to share it with! This week T got her tonsils out, but not to worry so did her best friend Kelley! Here they are playing a little before the surgery. The surgery went well and she is recovering great! And she is even taking her medicine! The Doc said it was a cure-all, it would stop the snoring, she would sleep better and be less grumpy because she got sleep and probably just be a new kid altogether... I will let you all know if this cure-all surgery really works! LOL Life is good.
